What is a logo & Why is one important

A logo is a way for customers/readers/users to instantly recognize and identify your business. Have you ever been able to recognize a company almost instantly by either their colours or icon without having to read their name? (Think Facebook, Instagram, Coca-Cola, YouTube, Starbucks) The logo is an important and crucial part of your company’s brand and visual identity. It is an investment that requires a lot of thought and expertise to get right.

Most times a logo that is made by a non-designer lacks personality, professionalism, uniqueness and a lot of times they don’t look very modern and sleek. (Sorry to say but hey! It’s the truth!)

Is a professional designer worth it?

Creating a good logo should be an investment that you’re ready to make. (Though “investment” does not mean unnecessarily expensive.) A professional would know how to get that professional look you want, that accurately represents the best that your company has to offer. They know the importance and psychology behind colours and can choose which would be best to meet your goals.

They can create a custom logo that looks like yours and yours alone! Ever notice that some businesses have logos that you know you’ve seen somewhere before?  Don’t be a cliché, make sure that the designer you choose can provide you with unique custom icons and type or whatever you need.

There are many designers out there that can help you with your logo design and even your visual identity. I’m a visual identity designer myself, meaning I can provide you with not only a unique logo design but I can work closely with you on your entire company’s look. From logos, to letter heads, to social media and I even include brand guides and rules to help you stay on brand at all times!

You can also find designers on sites like

  • Dribble
  • Behance
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Pinterest

It just takes a quick search on one of these platforms and then a detailed look at their portfolios or profiles.

Make it easy on yourself!

You’re logo design process should not be a stressful one. Before you contact any designer I think it’s important to figure out as a business owner, what your goals are and how do you want your customer to see you (customer perception.) Good luck on your branding journey!
